What it is

Collagen biostimulators with poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) do not fill immediately: they gradually stimulate your body to produce collagen, so the skin gains density and support over time.

The result is subtle and progressive — it builds over 2–6 months and lasts considerably longer than conventional fillers, but it is not immediate.

It is indicated for generalised loss of density and mild laxity, rather than targeted volume restoration, where hyaluronic acid is more suitable.

Technology / material: Approved poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) biostimulator, with dilution and technique determined by the doctor per area.

Who it is for

  • Generalised loss of density and mild laxity
  • Cheeks, temples, jawline
  • People who prefer a subtle, gradual result
  • People who can wait 2–6 months for the effect

What it can address

  • Thin, "deflated" skin with loss of support
  • Mild laxity
  • Loss of density in the cheeks and temples

What it aims to improve

  • A gradual increase in collagen density
  • Support and an overall improvement in facial appearance
  • Longer duration than conventional fillers

How it is performed

  1. 1

Examination, assessment of the anatomy and discussion of expectations and timeline.

  2. 2

Planning of the areas; antisepsis and anaesthesia as needed.

  3. 3

Delivery of the biostimulator with a needle or cannula, at the appropriate level.

  4. 4

Massage of the area during the session and instructions for massage at home, as shown to you.

  5. 5

Review in 6–8 weeks; 2–3 sessions are usually needed.

Before, during and after treatment

Before

  • Avoid blood thinners, anti-inflammatories and alcohol for 2–3 days beforehand, if your own doctor allows.
  • Do not schedule the treatment a few days before an important event.

During

  • Discomfort is limited; the area is massaged during the session.

After

  • Massage the area as shown (usually 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days).
  • Avoid intense exercise, sauna and sun for 48 hours.
  • The result builds gradually — assessment is at 6–8 weeks.

Contraindications & important considerations

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding

  • A history of granulomatous reaction to injectable materials
  • Active autoimmune disease, immunosuppression
  • A history of keloids or healing disorders
  • Unrealistic expectations about how quickly the result appears
  • Final assessment is made by the doctor at the visit.

Frequently asked questions

How soon is it visible?

Gradually, from the second month, with a fuller picture at 4–6 months after the last session.

How long does it last?

The result usually lasts 18–24 months, as it is based on collagen your own body produced.

How is it different from hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid gives an immediate, reversible result at a specific point. A biostimulator does not fill immediately and is not reversible; it gradually improves density over a wider area.

Is it reversible?

No, it cannot be dissolved like hyaluronic acid. This is why the amount is given gradually and conservatively, with reassessment.

Is massage needed afterwards?

Yes, and it matters: follow the instructions you are given for the first few days.

Indications, the number of sessions and the protocol are determined individually, after medical assessment. Results vary from person to person.
